RIDE OUT PROGRAMME 2008

All club members please note there will be rideouts leaving the dealership most Sundays. Dates not listed below will be unofficial ride outs with depart times and venues to be decided on the day unless otherwise informed. We are also hoping to organise some mid week evening ride outs during the high summer. Suggestions for ride outs: Please contact Keith Burke 0783 3575 984.

This summer we are hoping to set up some very informal, but vital New Riders ride out sessions. The aim is to help build confidence when group riding. Also, it will make you aware of the standard which we ride to at all times. These sessions will be held on Saturdays and Sundays and organised by Safety Officer.

Some of these are re-runs of popular rides we have done in the past, others are new ones from suggestions received.

Please try to be at the dealership 30 minutes before the departure time, with a full fuel tank (there is a petrol station near to the Dealership).
For those that have not been on a ride out, you can bring a packed lunch but we do try to stop somewhere for food.
Bring clothing suitable for all weathers. Some rides cover long distances and can be tiring but very enjoyable.
We make sure that we stop for fuel when the Sportster tanks are getting low (Approx 80/100 miles).

We have pickup point’s enroute (see meeting points on table) to save you riding all the way to the dealership.

NORTH The Tickled Trout. M6 junction 31.
SOUTH Knutsford Services M6.
EAST Birch Services M62 between junctions 18 and 19.
WEST Chester services M56 junction 14.

If you would like to meet at the services, phone Keith to arrange it. Please allow approx an extra 40 minutes to the start time.

Enjoy the rides.

SOME SIMPLE RULES TO FOLLOW - Please take the time to read these.

  1. Always follow the lead bike and stay in staggered formation.
  2. On any road or motorway do not make a move to overtake before the rider in front of you; This gives the group a snake-like effect when overtaking and is safe.
  3. On motorways do not allow a gap to form between riders as this allows cars to separate the group.
  4. Do not panic if the group gets split up at lights or roundabouts. The lead bike will pull up safely and wait. Also the lead bike and tail gunner will have exchanged mobile numbers to cover emergencies.
  5. Only white line between the second and third lane on a motorway. Anywhere else is illegal and dangerous.
  6. If a rider breaks down, do not stop. The tail gunner will give assistance and the rest of the group will pull up and wait where it is safe to do so.
  7. Make sure all riders have filled up before a ride. Always try to carry some basic tools and a first aid kit. If possible exchange mobile phone numbers.
  8. Re-fuelling stops will be made approx every 100 miles.
